We rode it as a loop which was great. Started on 35 across from the Gumjuwac trailhead and rode up 3540. The last mile (?) or so of 3540 was a steep grind but there are some amazing views of Hood. The Gunsight Butte trail was well maintained and there were a few incredible views of Hood and Adams. It was awesome to end coming down Gumjuwac with our car right there.

Agree completely with Elizabeth Streeter. Start at Eight Mile (Picnic area, unless camping) and ride it clockwise for the best experience. Really nice flow. I'd rate trail as blue, but there are long sections of almost green flow, and nothing sketchy or scary.

A mellow intermediate trail. I’d recommend riding clockwise starting from the Eightmile Campground so you get the climb over real quick.

Rode it as an out and back from the south end (parked a couple of miles down the road to avoid the worst of the nasty drive). Not a bad way to do it. We actually lollipopped it by returning part way on the road back to where the road and trail overlap. It was a good choice because it avoided the section of trail that wouldn’t have been so fun to climb back up. The rest of the trail back felt like it rode better that direction.

Clear of snow and downed trees. Riding great! Getting a little dusty.

Really enjoyed this trail - I also rode clockwise & I think the preferred route direction. Pretty fast and flowy in the middle & gradual climb at the end. Views were stunning. Meadows had wildflowers in bloom - really pretty. Dirt was surprisingly dry considering all the rain we’ve had in recent weeks. Trail in great condition

Fun trail. We ride clockwise. There isa downed tree 3/4 the way up. The stump just past it has a large wasp nest. be quick getting over the tree and be on your way! Downhill is super dusty and blown out. Watch for soft spots.

Trail Bennet Pass
Don’t be a lazy ass like me and drive up this road. It’s pretty horrible if you don’t have 4WD.

Great trail. Rides well either way, though it’s a bit of a grind if you head up (but you get to go down Bottle Prairie).

Fun to ride down, but it actually climbs quite well if you ride the loop cw.

Gave it 4 stars, but its not quite that good. It's described as tech, but its more like, moderate XC tech, basically just a couple of tricky rock sections while climbing. It has a nice grade, and the DH at the end is solid, but for being a ridge trail, you just don't see much most of the time on it. It's a fine trail, I'll ride it again someday, but its just not that particularly special.

Description is quite good but they aren’t joking about needing a high clearance vehicle up there. We looped it by parking at the bottom of Gumjawac on 35 and then pedaling uphill for 1.15 miles to Road 3540, which (to our surprise) was paved more than half the way. That made for an easy pedal until the last mile or so before Bennett Pass rd which was very steep (15-20%) and a bit of a grind. (Side note- 3540 doesn’t actually connect to Bennet Pass Rd unless you have a real deal 4x4, it ends at a parking lot 50’ away and if you were planning on driving between the two, you would be disappointed)

Gunsight was beautiful, great views and fun techy riding... I think that it might flow better the other way given the composition of the technical features but I have no idea how you would do that other than an out and back or a really long ride.

Gumjawac dropped *all* of our hard earned elevation in under 3 miles. Fun trail, steep with some consequential turns/drops but definitely easier than the “black” designation suggests.

Super fun trail. We started at parking lot off FS Rd. And rode clockwise.
