Agree with a lot of these comments, just know your skill level but also know that as of Spring 2023 there’s a humongous rut down the trail and there’s absolutely no maintenance happening so even the most experienced and confident rider is going to have trouble getting down

Really nice ride. It was a little out of shape when we rode it back in July. The climb out is pretty tough though, so don’t waste all your energy on the DH.

Trail really is a spicy blue. Difficult spots aren’t surprises, easily walked or have bypass lines. Braille is significantly more difficult and a real black.

It is an alright trail but a bit bland when compared to a well designed trail like Flow in Demo forest or even white oak in Monte Bello and Blue Blossom in Skeggs.

Trail Ridge Trail
Really fun trail with nothing too difficult or intimidating. Everything is easy to walk if you don't feel comfortable with it. Don't let the black rating prevent you from taking this to Flow, it's a great trail for an intermediate rider to progress.

Trail South Peak Hell
Ride it, don't ride it, but avoid at all costs? No. Some of us enjoy a challenge and a challenge it is. Very steep (initially) descent that can be difficult to control deed, not impossible. If the Mile, Crack and 911 have become rather routine, than give this a try.

Trail Ridge Trail
So we rode the ridge to flow trail super fun . The flies on the way up lagoon were horrible 2/3 way up. The ridge was techy but doable. No dabing necessary except when u lose the line. The way back no one mentioned because it’s HORRIBLE!!! ~4 miles of gradual uphill with a few punches. So gassed drank 2 liters - it was about 85’ @ 2pm when we got to car, I think we started about 11. Okay Saw a few people on a Wednesday 1/2 on Ebikes. A local said weekends are busy.

Trail Ridge Trail
I feel like Ridge should be rated as a Black. I think as another commenter pointed out, the trail is getting more technical over time. There are sections of ridge that have consecutive root drops, and technical steep and chunky rollers. There are also small sections of the uphill sections of ridge that are pretty technical and I see most riders dab.
[Reply]

Trail Ridge Trail
Agreed it has one little rock garden that can be a little tricky, though I think part of the reasons it's eroded so fast is because of the E-bikes that sneak in.

I did Braille then flow. The pedal out sucked but I liked having more emerge for Braille as it is a bit more physically challenging than Flow. Next time I’ll try Flow first.
It really isn’t that hard and you can go over the gnarly sections slowly if you have decent brakes.

Trail Purisima Creek Trail
This is a perfect testpiece climb on a gravel bike. Boggy but (barely) passable in wet conditions, and mostly cool and shaded when it’s warm.
If this trail doesn’t provide enough climbing by itself, add on a climb of Borden Hatch Mill and descent of Grabtown Gulch.
If you want a descent, this trail is boring but Whittemore Gulch is waaaay more fun.

Great trail, rode it for the first time today, It's a little techy in some spots that could maybe make it a black, but for the most part it's a blue, Also this trail could use a haircut, it is slightly overgrown
[Reply]

Trail El Corte de Madera Creek
If you go the way suggested the beginning has a sorta jump line, it's only like 3/4 mile but fast as hell, and the climb after isn't bad. Then the downhill kicks in again, but with a flowier feel, only after you climb back out.

This is not a black - it’s a red. Essentially unrideable. Definitely not rideable up. And was a crappy ride down for the second half. I’ll do it this once but not worth doing it again.
[Reply]

Trail Manzanita
Can someone change this to a black, look at the voting history, also the top part of the trail between Methuselah Fire Road and Fir trail fire road, that is NOT part of the trail, it is a brief fire road that can be climbed and descended. Call it Methuselah Connector.

This is a great way to get your descending legs after climbing for a while. Solid warmup before you drop Braille or Flow. Some swoop natural flow, rock gardens, side hits.

Trail Gods Trail
Rode El Granada God's Trail, Spine Ridge (Sully's Trail), and San Vicente Ridge Trail yesterday climbing each one and then descending. Strong climbers will be able to clean almost everything on each of these trails with the exception of maybe one steep washed out section at the very top of Spine Ridge. As far as descents go, I would say El Granada God's Trail was the most fun followed by Spine Ridge and lastly San Vicente Ridge Trail. I don't think San Vicente Ridge Trail was worth it personally although it is the easiest of the climbs. Also, like others mentioned Spine Ridge starts at the bottom of a horse ranch which definitely factors into appropriate speed on the descent.
All trails are clear with the exception of the top ~1/3 of San Vicente Ridge Trail which is pretty overgrown.
One final note - most routes show these trails as loops via gated off roads or from North/South Peak access roads. The climbs on those fire roads are steeper than climbing the trail in my opinion but may be a better option on weekends if it's busy. Mid week, I didn't see another biker, equestrian, or hiker the whole day. Happy trails!

Trail Steam Donkey
There's very little chunk on this trail compared to something like manzanita or fir trail, it's a fun little trail and Oljon to Steam Donkey makes for the perfect warmup. It's definitely a blue but the tech is super light.
[Reply]

Trail Manzanita
Probably the best trail in the Skeggs and my go-to for a while. It's got just enough tech that the ride doesn't get boring, but it's not a double black pro-line by any means. However, I genuinely think it should be rated black since it has some tech features that might appear difficult for some beginners. It can easily be done on a hardtail as well, it's just a little more fatiguing. The tech is fairly mild, but at no point do I really get nervous with it.

The upper part to Steam Donkey is fun, fun, fun. My 11 year old son developed his skills riding this to Steam Donkey (upper only) to Gordon Mill up. It's a great ~20 minute loop that isn't too technical but just enough variety to learn skills and have fun. Make some noise on blind turns since this is a well hiked trail. More experienced riders will enjoy taking this trail at speed and mastering the switchbacks.

Should be a downhill only trail. Very bumpy ride in several sections. I won't want to do this with a hardtail as my 130mm full suspension is pushed to it's limits. There's a steep, very challenging climb up a steep rock garden to test your skills and strength. Only the best can make it on their first try!

Trail Spine Ridge Traverse
You like hills? I parked at Quarry Park and rode up to Spine Ridge, then looped back on Highway 1. Spine Ridge on the back section has about 7 decents and climbs. With a pair of 5 Tens + flats + a dropper, I was able to ride down all decents and walked up the hills (I don't recommend clipless). There's one very steep hill similar to "Fast" in Pacifica but way looser. Just drop your seatpost, hang over the rear, and don't lock up the brakes. Good workout and definitely doable. I prefer God's Trail for more flow.

[Reply]

Trail Spine Ridge Traverse
I completely agree, I rode this trail recently and it is a great challenge with great views and fun downhills. The trail could use a bit of love in some areas, but the ruts add to the challenge and add a "raw" feeling to the trail that you wouldn't experience if it was just a boring fire road. I wouldn't recommend trying to get to Pacifica on this trail, because the trail that connects it is an insane climb, but if you are looking for a nice view of the ocean, and a challenging ride, this trail is amazing.

Super fun trail. there are a few sections. Some of the jumps are huge doubles and others are chill tables. The main thing on this trail is probably a 10-foot ladder drop. or the tree line which is made up of big doubles. Some parts of the Trail are blue and others like the tree line and leader drop are black to double black.

Doable for all kinds of bikers. The way down is fast and windy, which is fantastic! Be careful with hikers though. It’s a shared trail. We had to hard tails going up but we saw e-bikes and full suspensions on the trail. Good for a kinds. We took out time, so went up in about 1 hour. But others went up much faster.
