This varied tour with a view of the mighty Bietschhorn runs from Lauchernalp across several Lötschental Alps to Wiler. Along the way, see charming chapels with a panoramic view, cosy restaurants and typical Valais hamlets.

The Lötschental is a truly magical valley, full of fascinating legends, extraordinary traditions, customs and a unique mountain valley panorama. All these elements can be found on the bike tour from Lauchernalp to Wiler. The altitude difference of around 550 metres to the start can easily be covered by cable car. Once they reach the sunny terrace, bikers have a clear view of the striking Bietschhorn and all the way up to the Lötschenlücke pass. The view out of the valley stretches to the Weisshorn and Dent Blanche.

From here, the homely Lötschental Alps line up on relatively flat terrain. After Lauchernalp, a flowing high trail passes Hockenalp with its pretty wooden chapel. The route continues to Kummenalp and Restialp. Even from afar, bikers can see the beautiful wooden chapel of “Maria zum Schnee” on Faldumalp, standing proudly in front of the Bietschhorn and above the Lötschental. Here they have a view across the entire valley, from the reservoir to the Lötschenlücke pass: a perfect opportunity to stop and take some photos.

Then the trail runs more steeply downhill towards Ferden, the first village of the Lötschental, whose main attraction is the old village centre with buildings from the 14th/15th century. The route passes through Kippel, the valley’s main village, to reach its destination in Wiler. Tip: starting from Faldumalp, the tour can be extended to Leukerbad via Jeizinen.
