Telluride will be one of the newest locations to host the Big Mountain Enduro with a combination of terrain that will challenge both riders, and their equipment. No location can compete with the scenery that the San Juan Mountains offer, as competitors will be crisscrossing the mountainsides in the shadow of Mount Wilson above the historic downtown area. Bikers can choose to head in any direction right out of their front door for an unmatched cross-country experience or jump on the Gondola to gain access to downhill and flow trails that are fun and challenging for every riding level. Those looking for more time in the saddle will have no shortage of options, as there is a limitless amount of single-track heading out into the Uncompahgre Nation Forest.

Though a new bike park is due to open June of 2019, the BME stages will be broken up across the box canyon, mixing in some lift access trails and big backcountry terrain. Competitors will experience a wide range of trails in Telluride, from hard hitting downhill tracks in the Mountain Village Bike Park, to arduous climbs and technical descents on historic trails throughout the area; in total equalling nearly 7,800 feet of descending and 3,000 feet of climbing. Nothing comes easy here so be prepared for a big day in the saddle and 4 unique stages, all stemming out of Mountain Village. After a full day of racing on 4 challenging and very different stages, competitors and spectators will wrap up the event in the base area where the good times will continue into the night.

This trail underwhelmed us. It’s a fine trail for an XC ride, but nothing very memorable. We kept thinking we were close to amazing views but the top of the Prospect loop is still in the trees and never really opens up. No real memorable trail features either. It’s a good pedal if you want to ride your bike in the woods, but I’d rather spend my time in the downhill trails of the bike park.

This is a fun trail if ridden from West to East. Approximately 1 mile of hike a bike early on, but the traverse is fun. If ridden East to West, the decent is a straight erosion chute.

Rode this from south to north as part of a loop. Not really much to say - fairly wide for the most part but it does choke down with some good exposure in a few locations. Few rocky sections but nothing I’d consider technical. Pretty easy to chug along uphill if you’re climbing it, probably pretty fun going down.

Trail is narrow and somewhat steep, but otherwise not technical. Pretty easy to go slow if you’re not familiar with the trail.

Trail Magic Meadow
This trail meanders through multiple environments (pines, meadows, aspens) and has pretty good views of the mountains to the south/southwest, but the trail itself is quite slow and smooth. I was actually surprised at how much of a pedalfest this was going from east to west given that the trail itself drops over 1k in elevation. I’m not going to call this garbage like some of the other comments, but if you’re looking for something that allows for speed or any sort of technical features, this ain’t it.

Absolutely amazing trail. We took the free gondola up, rode Prospect trail(Telluride bike park trail free before 9, after 5) then Magic Meadows, then connected to Sunshine. WOW. I will come back to Telluride every year to ride this. There apparently is a way to shuttle as well because there is a forest road that leads to the top of magic meadows. Regardless, Magic Meadows was fun, easy, smooth and undulating but mostly in a down hill direction. There were berms, chunky rocks, smooth flowery meadows. We had a blast. Sunshine was much steeper and narrower with some great chunk too. My dad went over the handle bars 3 times on Sunshine. I loved these trails.

Fun trail…pretty tame for a double black but relative to the rest of the trails on the mountain it is the most difficult. Four features to look out for: 1) Small road gap(10 ft gap) 2)Step down gap 3) Drop (left and right lines. Right is bigger 4) Very small drop into rock chute.

Rode east to west. Lung buster out the lot. With mellow meandering disappointing trail at the end. I would highly suggest you ride this west to east. Easier climb with better decent.

If starting west to East be prepared for a hike a bike for a couple miles. After that rolling awesome downhill descents through aspen trees. Another small hike a bike and then the best descent in telluride. Awesome trail.

^you must be joking... long gone are the days of a rugged magic. It’s just another newschool flat flow trail with too many grade reversals. Would’ve been nice if some of the ultra fast old trail was still around but it’s all but gone. I just hope sunshine never gets touched and turns into this blah pedaly sidewalk.

The trail was competed last fall. The entry changed into a fully flowed trail with a creative route far better than the previous horse tracks from the Skyline ranch.

Rode the recently completed magic meadow trail from prospect to t35 today. Trail is awesome! Flowy sections, bermed corners, whoops - it's got it all! Dumps you out right across the highway from T35. Making it easy to move on from the network of trails one had to braille down in years past.

This little primitive link is a bootleg trail that should be shunned for it's illegitimacy. That said it's a gem I recommend in either direction.
