An incredible point-to-point excursion that has remained off the radar due to routefinding difficulties...until now Use your Trailforks app to avoid getting lost, and your bear spray to avoid getting eaten.
Leave a car at the Cinnamon Trailhead, and drive back to Big Sky to begin. Negotiate the tourists at Ousel Falls, then climb Second Yellow Mule to the expansive Buck Ridge and views of The Sphinx. Enjoy a solid 45 minute descent into a chunky and flowy Buck Creek, then a couple 30 minute climbs will deposit you at the top of the Cinnamon Trail, one of the best short downhills around. Consider the steep climb to the top of Cinnamon Mountain for great views of Gallatin Canyon, the entire Madison Range, and the Gallatin Range.
Allow 5 hours if you're super fit, a few more otherwise.
Do not attempt this route until after July 15 when the dirt bikers clear the deadfall, and consider waiting until August for the potholes to dry up at the bottom of Buck Creek.
Double check the individual trail descriptions for more info.
