This route is suitable for experienced mountain bikers, as the single-track path winds its way down some steep slopes and includes a few serpentines. It is one of the most difficult routes in the destination Zermatt – Matterhorn. If you are brave enough to take your eyes off the trail for a second, you’ll see some stunning views.

The initial climb is done using the Gornergrat Bahn. When you reach the Gornergrat, you go past the Gifthittli mountain station and then take the left-hand trail.

This is a very technically challenging trail that snakes through loose gravel and steep slopes. The trail after Untere Kelle includes a few serpentines that require a mountain biker's full attention.

At the end of some difficult sections, you'll reach the Mountain Lodge Ze Seewjinu (formerly Berggasthaus Grünsee) on the right-hand side. We highly recommend taking a break here, so you can start the last section of the trail to Findeln feeling fresh. From Findeln, heading downhill on the Sunnegga Trail is recommended.

Trail Ritzengrat
The name of the trail seems to be wrong. The origin Ritzengrad starts from the Unterrothorn .

Trail Ritzengrat
While there is a Ritzengrat on the ridge from the Unterrothorn, the area above Grüensee is also called Ritz (and the ridge Ritzengrat). Check the maps.

From summer 2020 the Gornergrat Bahn will transport mountain bikes from 16.00 hrs. In the late afternoon, you can take advantage of the free track on the trails and ideally make a sunset tour out of it.
