This is a classic higher-elevation California single-track experience. Dry and loose with sharp turns and features scattered throughout requiring speed modulation. Plan to take some breaks for pictures and snacks

The Irvine Ranch Conservancy conducts frequent scheduled docent-led hikes, mountain bike rides and equestrian rides enabling nature lovers to experience the areas remote wonders. Registration for docent-led programs is required due to the area’s sensitive habitat, but all programs are free.

Program Registration

Enjoy this epic ride through the "Yosemite of Orange County", the Fremont Canyon Nature Preserve. The nickname comes from the massive granite formations in the area.

You'll also enjoy a diverse array of plant and animal life. Some are endangered so be sure to stay on the trail.

Black Star SCE Out and Back is a 16 mile less popular expert route located near Irvine California. This mountain bike only route can be used both directions and has a hard overall physical rating. This route climbs 2,353 ft with a max elevation of 3,001 ft then descends -2,355 ft.
