Trail Blue Ridge
I rode this trail today. No flow except a couple of short sections. Very technical when avoiding all of the boulders. Definitely not good if there is mud since the mud up here is super sticky.

Nice trail for all level riders. Took it CCW but I think it probably flows better CW. Some nice uphill workouts which also means some great downhill sections. Plenty of rocks but not overbearing. Also some of me nicely packed forest floor.

Rode for the first time 3 days after rain and it needed a few more dry days to not be muddy. 2021 has had more heavy rain than normal and the trail is in pretty rough condition. Not for beginners or hardtails. Horses and cattle have eliminated what could be smooth and the rest is babyhead and volcanic rocks. I’ll try again when it’s dry and reassess, but I enjoyed it less than other reviewers.

Rode clockwise. Had hiked it yesterday, so knew what I was getting into. Cleaned most of the initial rocky sections, but definitely chose to get off in places where the gap between pointed rocks aiming to take out your group was too tight. Walked a couple sections where the loose small rocks and big fixed rocks were a bit too much to try.

Much loose rock. Stopped to chuck some rollers off the trail a few times.

Once the trail turned inward on the mesa, it was very nice. A couple wet spots, but otherwise dry and fun.

The logging work did make the trail hard to follow once or twice. But all in all, a fun, challenging ride for this east coast hard-tailer.

Nah… Direction was not well marked on this loop so I did the worst part first and it is not anything less than intermediate with all the volcanic rock to squeeze your rinds and pedals through. Never made it to the plateau area that's supposed to be better, but came down the road this intersected. The road was a fun slalom, so if the counter clockwise is better then come down the road when it gets crappy, that might work.

Trail Timber Mesa
If you do it counterclockwise, after a challenging, techy-loose start up, you hit the mesa for a flat smooth, flowing singletrack winding through the tall pines 4.75/5 ⭐. This singletrack portion goes about 4 miles or so,
riding forfulll blue, moderate skill level. If you continue West, you arrive at the ridgline. Here's where it becomes sweet views of Lakeside, but the rougher black gradual begins. Horse riding outfitters use this section ALOT due to the fantastic view of 2.5 miles of cool ridgeline. Over the years it's been 50/50 for equestrian activity when I ride this loop Unfortunately, those hooves constantly churn up the cinder stones...many cannonball size that keep that section hard to maintain according to the locals. It can be smoothish in short sections and black rough in complementing sections that demand more attention...one or two red sections exists that would be interesting to see if some pro trials riders negotiate it...if it could please video and post it here????. Barring that, it would be nice to see a short reroute of them. Might reduce the danger and increase the trail flow? The view makes it worth it, and the trail itself, has gotten a little better over the years. However, with the ridgeline rough-and-tough, I'd still rate the trail this side only a 3.5 ????. So, a strong 4ish⭐ overall.

A great trail with some amazing views. As someone else mentioned, this is a great trail for someone with moderate experience. A novice can do most of the 8+ mile loop, but will likely have some walking. A few, steep and technical climbs (counterclockwise) make this trail a blast even for someone who isn't great at mountain biking and who isn't in amazing shape (me).

Trail conditions are a bit rough, many large divots left for horses on most of the trail, turning fast flowy sections into more of a grind to keep the speed up. Lots of loose rock as well.

Do this trail Counter Clockwise. The climb was quite a workout, but it was well worth it. The downhill switchback section was very fun. You have to work around the volcanic rock on the downhill, but I got decent speed. The second half of the trail is a mixture of single and double track. Nothing too exciting about the second half, but it was a nice trail. This trail isn't a flow trail, but still can be fast. If you ever get tired, there are multiple service roads that connect to that central forest road. which will take you back to the trailhead.

Nice loop...loose, dry, and rocky for most of well signed trail. Keep eyes on trail, sniper rocks will get you if you are looking around. Some nice flow sections, but too much rock to be super flowy and fast. Cool section at the top on the turn back to the trailhead to take a break and check the views.

Trail Panorama
Nice loop...loose, dry, and rocky for most of well signed trail. Keep eyes on trail, sniper rocks will get you if you are looking around. Some nice flow sections, but too much rock to be super flowy and fast. Cool section at the top on the turn back to the trailhead to take a break and check the views.

Trail Blue Ridge
If you want a bumpy rocky technical trail with no flow this is your trail. Wasn't much fun as far as riding and being able to look around. Constantly having to watch the trail for rocks etc. Horses have chopped up a good section of this trail. I have ridden a lot of trails and this isn't one I would recommend.

Trail Blue Ridge
Super fun trail. It's XC bike friendly. I rode on my cannondale black inc hard tail just fine but if you want to be more comfortable, I would recommend a full suspension. It's a pretty chuncky trail but not too technical in my opinion. There are some challenging sections but you can roll over everything no problem. You just need some skill. Lots of loose rocks. Some good short punchy climbs. Not too much climbing but not too flat, either. I would say this is more of an intermediate trail. I am in between beginner and intermediate level. Only had to hike and bike a couple times because my skill level just wasn't there. But I cleaned most of everything. I'm a female and have only been riding for 2 years. Would ride the trail again. I would definitely avoid this trail when raining. It hailed on us one day and we had to cut it short because our tires were just caked in sticky mud and pine needles. It gets dangerous riding on the rocks with slick tires like that.
I would run tubeless tires with a thicker sidewall. I recommend 2.25. I was riding shwalbe snakeskins: Knobby Nick 2.25 in the front and Racing Ralph 2.1 in the back and I wish I had the 2.25 in the back but I was using a spare wheel and didn't feel like changing the tire.
My usual set up is Knobby Nick/Rocket Ron in the front depending on the terrain, and always Racing Ralph in the back. I always run snakeskins and 2.25 tires for that extra grip. Hope this helps y'all out.

The trail is in good shape. There are a few wet areas but it's easy to maneuver around the mud and water sections.

I so wanted to like this trail— there area is very pretty— but with enough recent rain and horse activity, the trail is chopped up. It’d be great to hike, I’m sure, but the trail is rough enough that it’s a bit of a slog where one could expect to otherwise roll smoothly. Not a problem generally—just if you want to bike it
