Trail El Diablo North
North & South Diablo are great places to learn tech riding, highly recommend them for that, but like the rest of Brown's, ratings are soft and only "black diamond" at Brown's (Granite Dells, Sedona, Flag, Tucson black diamonds are much more difficult and/or serious consequences for crashing; also plenty of tech blue trails around the state that are more difficult); there are a couple B-lines that are more difficult, but not obvious or part of the main trails. If looking for an example of obvious black diamond-level at Brown's, ride the chunky section just south of the saddle on Brown's Mtn (either direction).

Trail Coyote Canyon Trail
Riding this trail from west to east is the way to do it. After finishing a number of trails, left wondering where the intermediate part was, this was actually an intermediate trail some chunk. It can get a little sandy at the bottom, but still rideable.

Majority of the lower section of this trail is deep sand (disclosed in info), but honestly not a good addition to any RIDE if flow is a must for you. Great hiking trail addition with cool rock formations.

Amazing trail, classic XC. This trail flows so good, even the uphills feel good. Beautiful scenery, lost of saguaro and Ocotillos. I find this trail to be best written north to south, as you get the best flow and rhythm this way. Personally I think this is one of the best trails in Browns Ranch, check it out.

The lower section of this trail (in the actual canyon) is not fun. Deep, loose sand and large boulders. There are much better options in the area if you enjoy technical riding - this is just a slog.

Trail Latigo Trail
As an adaptive mountain biker Latigo trail is a basic aMTB1 level, meaning no major obstacles or squeeze points and no support rider needed. This is a smooth flowy trail and can be done easily with an adaptive E-assist. If attempting to do this without an E-assist you would need a support rider to be able to make it through the uphill sections

Echoing what others are saying... these are green/blue trails at the most with a few 'black' tech options scattered throughout. Nothing compared to black trails at South Mtn. or other local riding spots. This is a an easy spin, single speed, recovery ride or a great place to bring kids. But don't come here expecting anything challenging.

Fun easy ride, no rocks/techy stuff. The out and back is fun if you happen to be in the NW part of Brown's and want to try something new.

Rode westbound, lots of fun downhill with some rollers along the way to air off of (similar feel to Hawknest, but narrower singletrack and nowhere near as busy). Careful with the speed, some loose flat corners are present.

Trail Coyote Canyon Trail
Upper section is a fun, fairly easy ride. Some negative comments here on the lower section. True, it’s sandy and there are some tricky rock sections. But a nice change of pace, and some of the coolest terrain in the north section. I posted a video of the lower half that gives a good view of it.

Perfect trail to start learning the techy side of mountain biking. Lots of features along the way (most are optional). Bike control, being dynamic while riding, it's not as steep as it looks, when to drop that dropper...
Good stepping stone to the other "black diamond" areas at Brown's.

The north eastern part of this trail, beyond Desperado, is unrideable in either direction. Deep sandy wash mixed with large boulders and very overgrown. Pure hike a bike. Tried to shortcut across this from Dove Valley trying to get back to Desperado, knowing nothing about it, with wife and daughter. Big mistake.

Trail El Diablo North
The trail is located in the north eastern part of browns ranch meaning you have to ride a couple miles to get here. This trail is the most technical trail in browns ranch, it has many rock boulders that you go down and climb over. There are also alternate lines that go around the technical features. This trail is like a dumbed down version of the national trail. It has large rocks and boulders that you go over but in between the rock sections it is a smooth hard packed single track. Brown's ranch is a very popular place but since the trail is in the middle of brown’s there is very little traffic on El DIablo.

If your grandparents ever told you about having to walk to school, uphill in both directions, it's because they took Hawkes Next to get there. Rode it from the North, expecting a nice descent, like West Express, and did not get it. It is nice and flowy, but you go up almost as much as you go down.

Riding North to South there is a somewhat short uphill section that leads into a great DH section where you can really open the bike up. There are many blind corners though so be sure to call out as you near them to avoid hitting someone coming south to north. There are some small mounds that you can utilize as jumps on the trail as well. Overall it is a well groomed trail that allows you to enjoy the desert whipping by you.

Note: Riding CW is definitely easier than CCW. However, definitely not "downhill". Still XC, but a fun cruise! And yes, keep an eye out for those mini-air rollers.

I like to ride this section from green to red. Compared to Diablo South, I think Diablo North is the easier of the two but gives you more session opportunities because there are multiples lines at about each feature. If you do not want to tackle a section, you can bypass them, but where’s the fun it that?

I wanted to give a little update about these trails after riding here again on 03/19/2020. These trails, I believe are overrated. These are definitely not black diamond trails. A majority of the trails out here marked as a black diamond are intermediate trails. Not to mention, most of the harder bits can be bypassed. It was just a shame to see so many people at this trailhead yet no people on the black diamonds. I would say that these are about 90% intermediate and 10% advanced, especially compared to South Mountain and Sedona trail systems. These ratings are keeping people of the trails, which is a shame. If you are on the fence with riding these areas, just give them a shot. If you can’t clear a section, there is nothing wrong with a little hike-a-bike.

Not sure what trail you were on, there is nothing around the entire Cholla loop that is as "spicy" as the Granite Mtn Loop. Granite has switchbacks with rocks to say the least, Cholla is beginner all around unless you know the B-lines for harder challenges. Did you end up in the Diablo areas north of Cholla?

Trail Desert Valley Moto Loop
This is a moto trail. It has areas of heavy sand. Southbound on either side is still fun since it's downhill but northbound on either side is riding up whoops and has areas of sand. Probably better off riding up (northbound) on the Maricopa trail and then riding south on either leg of this trail....or better yet, just go back south on the Maricopa trail.

Trail El Diablo North
Easy way around most hard feature. Not very demanding. Pretty flowy for most of it with a few small technical section. Still super fun.

Trail Coyote Canyon Trail
This is not a black diamond trail. Is there any way for users to vote on the difficulty of the trail? Compared to the rest of the preserve there are a few sections of the trail that are more difficult but this is an intermediate trail.
