Esta ruta se dirige a la cercana población de Lumbrales, compartiendo este primer tramo con el camino antiguo de Lumbrales. Sien embargo, una vez llegado a esta población, el camino toma dirección oeste pasando junto a la bella Estación de Ferrocarril de Lumbrales en dirección al Río Camaces.

Este tramo que discurre junto al cauce del Camaces es uno de los más bellos de la red de senderos, ya que serpentea siguiendo las curvas y meandros del río para alcanzar uno de los recursos turísticos más relevantes de la región: el Castro de Las Merchanas, volviendo a la población de Hinojosa de Duero por el Camino de los Arrieros, antiguo y bello camino por el que se dirigían los arrieros de la región a la población de Hinojosa.
