Nice rock formations. Trail is clear of downed trees as of July 2022.

Trail has had a lot of work done to it since the last time we rode it. The top is rerouted and re-benching and drainage has been done. This has definitely helped.

We rode down this time and it was fun. There are some steep spots if you’re riding up.

Trail is open, clear and great to ride. Very smooth and great vistas of the Butte Valley.

Lime kiln CDT is clear and snow free up to the Toll Canyon trail intersection. From there to the cattle guard/road there are over a dozen trees and plenty of snow.

Hey mtcanuck,
Thanks for commenting on the trail conditions! In the future I recommend doing this as a trail report as this is the official way to view and update status and condition of trails on Trailforks.
Cheers,
Matt

The worst sketchy part is just over the hill from the parking. That is unless you take the wrong turn like we did and head up and over the steep pipeline trail! It’s straight up and straight down.

This makes for a loop option to drop down to the Blacktail Ridge trailhead. From there you can take Blacktail Ridge to the Beaver Pond trail, then come back on the CDT.

90% of what is shown as this trail is a paved street! There is only half a mile of double track at the very start of this, which might be rated blue. The other four and a half miles is easy pavement!

Trail was cleared and mostly dry. The Northside of the main summit had 5-6 snowy switchback patches.

Trail is a bit rutted in places. It wasn’t a bad climb up, but it is steepish in places. It was a good option for looping the rail grade with Blacktail Ridge and Beaver Pond.

This is a fun trail that looks like it gets a lot of traffic from dirt bikes and ATV's. For me the sketchy part about this trail is deep sections of loose sand. I think most intermediate level riders would be fine riding this trail because it's not too difficult if you just take it slow.

Rode from TH at Hwy 90 as an out-n-back. 5 miles up takes you to ridge line with excellent views of Butte MT and the valley. Trail is very well designed with switchbacks and nice tight single track. Trail was damp in places due to recent afternoon rain showers.
