Section 14 of the California to Canada trail, a long distance bikepacking route extending from Southern California to Canada. This section is mostly on singletrack (85%). There is only ~6 miles of pavement over the entire ride, so it is extremely remote. This is one of the last sections of trail before reaching Sequoia National Park and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, so plan to resupply accordingly, as there will not be another resupply point for at least a few hundred miles.

Mill Creek Trail

Probably about 10 trees down after the recent fire, loose, and lots of ash. One benefit of the fire is that now all the overgrown brush is gone. You can easily walk over or around the down trees.

About 3 miles of the trail was logged out and brushed on Labor Day weekend 2023 by KRVMBA and Lowelifes - from Sunday Peak TH south to around 3.7 mile mark on the track. About half mile of the extension was brushed and logged out as well. These sections are now riding great. To the south of mile 3.7 there are still 2-3 downed trees to climb over and a few sections where white thorn is encroaching on the trail. Cattle have been on the trail here too, and it is soft/eroded in places. It is ok going south but I wouldn't try to climb it.

Dutch Flat Trail

No snow, however, after the creek crossing sandy conditions all the way until you reach the Dutch Flat fork. Trail destroyed by uphill dirt bikers. Deep ruts looks to have been created by uphill dirt bikers while riding in muddy conditions. These ruts are rectangular in shape 10 to 20" deep and about 7 inches in width. An amazing trail that is no longer fun.

All good, climbs made difficult in places by moto ruts
