This incorporates two great downhill trails by a moderate climb on Gold Camp Road. The route starts at Stratton Open Space's parking lot behind Cheyanne Mountain High-school. Start by climbing on The Upper Meadows SOS connecter to the intersection with Middle Meadows and the Start of the Upper Meadows Loop, then Take Upper Meadows loop to the intersection with Chamberlain trail. Climb chamberlain trail till the intersection with Ladders, Then climber ladders till its intersects with till the end of trail, about a mile up. Climb Chutes to the trail ends in a parking area off of gold camp road, You've finished the first hard section of climbing. Ride Gold camp road for the next few miles, gradually climbing till you ride through 2 tunnels and reach the Upper Gold Camp Road parking lot. At the west corner of the lot will be a gate. Ride past the gate and continue up Gold Camp road. After a relaxing climb, you'll reach a point where the road does a sharp left switchback; 500 feet before the switchback, you will see a trail climbing away from the road, this is Buckhorn trail. Climb Buckhorn trail for about a mile and you'll come to an intersection with the world famous Captain Jacks trail!! Open up your suspension and let er rip down the trail, there are not intersections to slow you down. Once you've reached the end of the Captain Jacks, ride back down Gold Camp road to the parking area at the top of Chutes. Ride down Chutes to the bottom of the trail, you should see a reservoir to your left when the trail ends. Ride past the reservoir down the dirt road till you reach the beginning of Mesa Reservoir Trail. Take this trail until you reach Ponderosa trail, then ride down the trail until you reach Upper Meadows and the parking lot you began at.
