Trail Little Larch
A bit more about the constant trail merges and signs. I know the chances are slim but there would have been about 0 possibility of avoiding collisions at some of these areas if there were 2 riders merging at different speeds. Overall the place just felt hazardous above what a trail should.

Trail Little Larch
Am I the only person that wasn't in love with this trail. I was lured there by the ratings and positive comments I've seen on the internet. I did the climb on Level Up, which was fine. Intensity level definitely low. Then to the descent on Little Larch. The main features are steep sections mixed with a few berms. The "jumps" are few and far between and not well groomed or taken care of. There are also multitudes of occasional of tiny drops if they can be called that but they're all about the same with the same placement on the trail. I did take a few of the advanced lines but honestly it was hard to enjoy. Perhaps it was just a bit too rough/wild for me. The constant warning signage for merges etc were distracting. I'd much prefer riding 360 out in Gig Harbor or Tiger Mountain. I rated my experience at Capitol Forest as a 2 of 5.

Ok so maybe calling this trail mediocre was a bit unfair. This trail is quite decent and honestly with the length it’s actually a nice choice if you’re feeling something on the more long and mellow side. Even just one run down this makes for a fun day on a bike. If it wasn’t shuttle accessed it would be a different story though.

Definitely wouldn’t call this a mediocre trail. It’s a classic pnw XC trail that feels like you’re descending a mountain. Some lame climbing sections but lots of fun, fast downhills. Must ride if you’re shuttling. Along side little larch

This is in no way a black Diamond. Go ride the black diamonds at north slope and you’ll see what a black Diamond is. Honestly nothing on this trail is even that challenging. This is a pretty mediocre trail overall with a handful of fun technical sections. Little larch is a far superior trail.

Awesome trail! Everything rollable so a great trail to build confidence. A bit pedaly towards the bottom so don’t bring your dh bike. The level up trail makes it a great loop.

Must ride at capital forest. Tons of tables and some spicy sections. If you ride the harder stuff, this is a hard blue. If you ride the easy sections only, this is a true blue in my opinion

I think this is a challenging intermediate level course. A few pretty steep sections and tons of roots and small features to get a little air on. Rode this on our hardtails yesterday and had some root fatigue by the end for sure. Would be less challenging on a full-squish bike.

Super fun with multiple black diamond split offs. There's berms and jumps and some techy roots up top. Then it opens into flow, don't stop push it all the way to the forest the track ends with a couple nice jumps. There are a few floaters and manual pads overall a super nice trail!

Not a black diamond i don't care what anyone says about that. It's a true blue and perfect for those trying to get more comfortable mtn biking. I'd say more classic than a flow trail but there's some fun berms and flowy sections. Do yourself a favor and ride the work roads or climb up to it...we came in awkwardly and rode up the last section to the top which was semi brutal.

Trail Greenline Trail
Not a black diamond i don't care what anyone says about that. It's a true blue and perfect for those trying to get more comfortable mtn biking. I'd say more classic than a flow trail but there's some fun berms and flowy sections. Do yourself a favor and ride the work roads or climb up to it...we came in awkwardly and rode up the last section to the top which was semi brutal.

Trail Little Larch
Fun trail with quite a bit of variety from top to bottom. I've only ridden it twice (on same day), but I recall steeper terrain with optional jumps at the top, along with a few areas where you can ride a hard or easy line (trail splits), one of which has a sweet log ride I didn't expect. Lower down it gets into some flatter terrain and flow/pump track features, including what appeared to be a newer circular pump track along the way. It then finishes with some nice drop-offs on the runout. I enjoyed this more than I expected to. Good stuff, and a huge shoutout to FOCF not just for the trail build, but also for the excellent signage and rad wood carvings.

Trail Greenline Trail
I would say this trail is rated properly. I took a dated 2016 Trek EX8 29er down it and it was more than enough bike for this sometimes fast and flowery trail with some mild to moderate rock and root obstacles and maybe even a garden or two. The drops are small and don't sneak up on you. A couple of the switchbacks are tight if you come in too hot, but again, nothing you don't see coming.

Being my 2nd time on a real mountain bike. I would say the trail is great shape. Just a few spots of lose dirt and not dusty at all. Seem to grip way better that I did last week on greenline.

I would definitely call this a blue intermediate trail not a black diamond. There are roots and drops but the largest drop is maybe 15 inches and at the speed the trail provides it requires very minimal effort of the rider to compensate for the drop. I guess technically some of the drops are unavoidable but they are in the minority and are small.
