The 2018 XCM Coaster 50 Course. Extra mileage was added to add new trails and to match 50km.

The Coaster50 Cross Country Marathon mountain bike race will offer a day of amazing riding on the best mountain biking trails the Sunshine Coast has to offer. On May 5th, 2018 the Coaster50 will feature a longer and improved course near Sechelt, BC. This course will have hard climbs, exhilarating downhills and most of all, good old-fashioned XC trail riding. This course won’t be easy and rest assured, you will be challenged so save the date and register online. This is a sanctioned Cycling BC - BC Cup race and round number one in the Cycling BC XCM race series.

You will be riding classics trails like. DeWormMe which will take you down and around Wormy Lake. Phareline will take you through the big burn we had in summer 2015, and is named for the local faller who gave his life fighting that fire. Frogger will give you a nice switchback climb through a clear cut with an awesome viewpoint at the top. The trails Millipede and Cabin Fever will take you in the Homesite Creek area. SCC & SCUMB members are constantly improving trails and moving blowdown for you.

VFR is the last big climb descent before you finish the Sunshine Coaster long course.

The XCM offers you about 49.2kms of Coast riding including some logging road, some double track but lots of single track. There will be a feed station which you will see twice, offering the usual water, juice, fruit, and snack bars. This is 2 wheel drive accessible for those bringing a support crew along. The 21kms option gives a good workout to those who aren’t quite ready for the full meal deal, for more information check out the Cross Country Short Course.

The Start
The mass start will be at 10am. Self-seeding according to your expected completion time.

Talking about meals, you will still get a bbq meal and a beer included with your entry.

The mass start is at 10am with Elite riders up front, then the riders vying for a place on the Provincial team. After that, we’ll let you self-seed your position accordingly. Sweeps will be out there checking on you. An emergency number will be given out at registration which you can put on your Smartphone. Marshals will be positioned along the route, along with our good friends from Sunshine Coast Search and Rescue. There are many ‘outs’ on the course should you need to bail for mechanical reasons and we can give you a ride back to base.
