Ride from west to east. It has some very steep parts on the west end of the trail and if you ride E to W it's pretty challenging. The terrain is loose so you won't have much traction on the uphills. Easy on the switchbacks, as others have said, very loose and potential to really screw up. Overall, it's not bad. Definitely not for beginners, one of the more difficult blues on South Mountain.

Comparatively smoother than than most other trails. Steep uphills and downhills. I wouldn't recommend it to green riders, unless they have great lungs or an ebike. Some of the riders in the comments have dismissed the trail for various reasons. I'm willing to give it a chance. Curious to see what time and weather will do to it's ridability.

This trail is ok. It’s nice to hop on to mix things up and not just ride the classic. However, I don’t think this trail was built with bikers in mind. This trail has some elevation but uses any of it in the most ineffective way. Any downhill section is fallowed by steep turns quickly after making the trail anything but fun. If you like me and you like to bomb down everything this trail isn’t for you. I think this trail was built to divert hiking traffic off of the desert classic. I hope the trail builders consider mountain bikers more as the continue to build the Guadalupe trail up the mountain.

Unnecessarily steep at parts. Loose at critical points so that you have to brake and lose all you speed. I prefer desert classic over the bypass.

This trail was a waste... it's boring for no other reason that the city chose lazy builders. Great path for grandma to walk on, don't bother riding it.
This should be a green, there is nothing difficult about it other than the lazy steep lines the builder chose.

On West end, the switchbacks are very dry and loose. At least 2 riders have been seriously injured and airlifted out. The trail is very rideable, just control your speed for your skill level.

I did this trail East-West today. Smooth but loose dirt and steep grade towards the end easy to slide out. This bypasses one of the only technical portions of DC. Probably better W-E as advertised on trail forks.

Amazing Trail! It’s brand new and it’s a flowy, rockless alternative to Goat Trail. Can get up to some pretty great speeds going down.

Trail Helipad
First time up Helipad... nice, well maintained tight singletrack up to the helipad with a few punchy climbs but pretty straightforward. Great views of the $1.8M homes below. We went down Goat instead of retracing our tracks. This trail, for me, was well worth the climb.
