There is a 4 mile section on this route that is on what looks like a well maintained dirt road.

Detailed Description
Cottonwood Tour is a 22 mile popular expert route located near Salida Colorado. This mountain bike only route can be used one direction and has a hard overall physical rating. This route includes 14 trails. This route climbs 2,663 ft with a max elevation of 8,936 ft then descends -2,663 ft.
