The Curly Lake Highline is closed until July 15 for mountain goat kidding.

This is the classic Curly Lake Highline route. There are other options, but parking and shuttling from the Rock Creek Trailhead is the most popular: Using a shuttle on the South Boulder Road saves roughly seven miles and 1,000' of climbing, but adds approximately an hour to the end of the ride. The road deteriorates above the Rock Creek Trailhead, and becomes very rough above Mammoth. Any low-clearance vehicles should remain at Rock Creek.

The route is challenging. Past Curly Lake, very little of the trail surface is smooth. Coarse rubble is commonplace. Plan ahead for this ride, and bring more water and calories than you might otherwise.
