The second half, after Split Enz has enjoyed a lot of maintenance recently to manage all the rain we've had. It's in great condition. Thank you team, really appreciated.

Old trail which isn’t very popular anymore, for good reason. Rooty without much gradient, so just awkward to ride.

I met a bunch of really nice riders calling themselves the Wrinkly Riders. I tagged along with them and they selected Split Enz! The trail is a lot bumpier than then I first used to ride it (before any harvesting at all). But it has handled the weather well and I had a huge smile at the bottom!

Rode to the turn off to the trig before the cold got to me! Cold rain and hail!
The track is a bit muddy under tree cover and the fast flowy bits have deep ruts in their centre making them a bit tricky when going uphill. A lot of fun but best to ride with a friend I think.

As a grade 2 Should be closed until repair.

Hi There, thanks very much for your comment. Is is the actual Puarenga stream trail you are referring to? Or just the exit to Duck Pond Road? We are aware that the exit to Duck Pond Road is still covered in slash and is currently closed on Trailforks. Any further information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much Tracy RTT

Pretty good argument for making this a G5. It’s just as technical, maybe even more so than it’s G5 neighbour Te Ahi Manawa, and overall steeper.

So far this is the most fun downhill track I've done in the park, flows really nice with great speed, rutted sections add to the smiles as you hold on tight. Legs definitely are feeling the burn by the end though.

Trail Bush Road
Where Bush road joins Buchanan Road it was very difficult to spot. Rode past it twice before having a really good look and then managed to find it. At this intersection it is a very narrow track. (You couldn’t drive a vehicle up it. It’s very narrow and definitely wouldn’t describe it as a Road! Further up it did widen to an overgrown 4x4 track.

Rode this today while on our way to Shark v Eagle.
Posted as Grade 2 but I would not recommended to anybody who cannot manage grade 3. It is a knarly climb and challenging in places and probably should be a G3 when you looking at Grade 3 description. The track was otherwise in good order

Rode this track with wife on our way back to the car park. Maybe it was because we had knocked out nearly 40kms on other tracks but I wouldn't call this track fast and flowey through its length as over the years the base soil has worn down exposing a very root exposed track. It is in good order but in places quite knarly which could catch a rider out. Still challenging and enjoyable as a G3 track

This is a G4 trail by any definition and should be labelled as such. It’s a bit rich that Whaki ‘G3’ and this trail have the same grading. What’s the point if trails aren’t graded properly?

Awesome trail, great scenery, nice and smooth not too many roots, however wouldn't really agree with the "downhill primary" label. The first 1/2 to 2/3 is uphill, and there's a relatively short downhill after that. The return trail "Yellow Brick Road Return" is much more fun, mostly downhill and flowy. We took our 2 year old on it and he was just giggling with excitement the whole way down. Definitely a great fun trail for anyone who's new to mountain biking.

Pretty good trail for beginners, very ‘in the bush’. A couple steep ascents towards the end and a kinda hazardous descent at the start (for beginners). It has a non-signposted fork at on point where one side just leads into an overgrown dead end. Otherwise it is a fun little way to get to a highly recommended track: Yellow brick road.

Trail The Tickler
I really enjoyed the top(downhill) section of the tickler. After about 2.5-3 minutes or so the trail starts to flatten out in sections meaning you need to get those legs pumping again. Felt a bit tedious after 5 hours of riding.Would be a good ride if you still had ample energy in the tank or where after a quick fix
