A route for Elfin Forest starting from the northwest side and avoiding the Way Up Trail, which is typically more busy with hikers.

Park on Harmony Grove Road near Via Ambiente. The trails for this route start in the Los Cielos Preserve and the Los Cielos trail enters the Elfin Forest Recreational Preserve and meets the Equine trail.

Some sections of the trails are rocky and steep. Less advanced and fit riders will need to walk some sections on the climbs. Descents should be no problem for intermediate riders.

Good views of Elfin Forest valley and Lake Hodges.

Porta-potty, water and bike repair stand are found near the picnic area just northwest of the Olivenhain Reservoir, near the Tyke's Hike trail.

People, we don't need to list "very dry" and "dusty" as issues with the trail. We live in a desert, just ride.
