This is the prime fatbike riding route in AF Canyon. This is typically a morning route through most of the winter, and an all day route when snow is packed from Pine Hollow and up. Pine Hollow trail has the tendency to melt as it is the lowest singletrack and the lower half is sun facing.
The route starts at the trailhead and climbs you up the road. Riders will often create a nice little groove to ride in up the road and it is a great way to get warmed up and dial in your ride. Some riders will start at Pine Hollow, but it is a brutal start. This route spins up the road to the Timpanooke trailhead parking where the 150/180 loop gets you rolling on some great winter singletrack. If you want to extend your ride, I suggest doing this loop multiple times. From there you start up Salamander Flat, which is a great climb with a few quick and fun drops. After you descend to the Pine Hollow intersection, you can continue down to the car, or add on the overlook ride to Ridge 157. The first part of the connector is a brutal climb, ride-able, but you need some cardio. Once past this, it is a fun spin to the overlook.
The ride down from the lookout is some of the best fatbike DH around. If Pinehollow is muddy, go back on Salamander Flat and descend on the road from the Timpanooke Trailhead parking.
