While there are limitless options for routing in Florida Canyon, here is a good starting point that hits all the main areas and showcases the variety of the trails available. Due to the haphazard nature of the trails layout, there is a considerable amount of riding and re-riding over the same trail in order to hit everything, that's the nature of Florida Canyon. It's a weird trail system, embrace the eccentric.

This route includes narrow singletrack, wide doubletrack, steep climbs, fun descents, technical sections, flowy sections, a few small (easily bypassable) jumps, a road crossing, stream bed crossing, a cut thru the dog park.

Florida Canyon trails are weird. its an urban trail system that gets lots of use by a wide variety of user groups (including clandestine activities by homeless folks, that generally aren't an issue, but it's worth noting so new users are aware and practice the appropriate level of personal safety, such as riding with a friend.) Hikers and runners with headphones, and off-leash dogs are unfortunately common. Riding with a bell is highly encouraged.

Riding at night with lights is a fun option, buddy system recommended due to the campers.

You can start at any point on this loop route. As it's set up, parallel park on Park Ave (across the street from the SD Zoo). You can also park in the large dirt lot on the East Mesa, or in the parking lots by Morley Field (by the pool and tennis courts). There is a public restroom next to the Velodrome. There are also sports fields and playground and picnic tables by the velodrome.

You can easily connect to the Balboa Park museum areas via Park Ave. (from the edge of the West Mesa trails to the Plaza De Panama Fountain is a 3-5 minute easy ride)

Food and Drink:
- Panama 66 is a great spot to get a post-ride beer and food. it's outdoor seating with a sculpture garden that kids can run around. tons of beer on tap and bar food.
- 7-11 on Texas and University.
- Occasionally there will be food trucks in Balboa
- Nearby Breweries: Hillcrest Brewing, Mike Hess, North Park Beer Co, Barn Brewery, Thorn, Belching Beaver, and more.
