Cove Creek to Daniel Ridge is a classic route in the South Pisgah Ranger District of Pisgah National Forest, near Brevard, NC. The route starts out climbing up double-track past several swimming holes before turning left onto single-track just before Cove Creek Group Campground. The trail then splits right and traverses up, climbing behind the campground and continuing up for a couple of miles. After crossing two log bridges and going up a short, technical rocky section of trail, the trail splits left, climbing to fire road 225. Going left on the fire road, and staying right to cross past a gate, the trail continues to climb with a few quick descents on double-track for a few miles, crossing two wooden bridges until it ends up in a clearing at the top of Daniel Ridge. Daniel Ridge starts to the left and continues down over varied, off-camber, rooty, and rocky terrain until turning sharply left at the intersection of Farlow Gap. The trail continues downhill on single-track over very technical terrain for over a mile, parallel to the creek until intersecting double-track at the bottom and turning left. The fast double-track continues for a ways until crossing a large concrete bridge at the bottom and coming out in the Daniel Ridge parking lot. Turn left on Davidson River Road (475) and cruise back to the start.
Access: From Brevard/Pisgah Forest - Take 276 to Davidson River Road towards the Fish Hatchery. Follow Davidson River Road (475) until it turns to gravel at a parking area at a sign for Cove Creek Campground. The loop starts here, climbing past the gate and going uphill. Alternate parking can be found further down 475 at the bottom of Daniel Ridge and at the Fish Hatchery. If parking at the Fish Hatchery, use the Davidson River Trail to access the loop in order to avoid riding on the road.
