Trail Towai Traverse
Add my 2 cents to the grading debate. G4 south of Pavlova junction, G3 north of it. I guess you have to rate a trail to the highest grade on it so G4 overall.

Trail Towai Traverse
Quite a tough trail if heading up towards Freewheel. Lots of pinchy technical climbs. Was always aware of the drops off the side of the trail if you lost your balance which was quite often in my case.

Trail Labyrinth
Although it is only an "intermediate' trail and could easily be traversed by a beginner rider, it is also extremely fun for more experienced riders to barrel down at high speed. Nice corners, some small jumps if taken quick enough. Tightish banked turns. A good track to take every now and again if 491, Freewheel etc are getting stale.

Trail Labyrinth
The uphill portion has a lot of very tight switchbacks and will get the heart rate racing. The downhill is a very well designed but the surface suffers in the wet forest. At the harder end for an intermediate trail.

Trail Towai Traverse
This is rated a grade 4 not just for the surface and tight corners. Grading is also about consequences of an accident on the track, and the track width/sight lines. This is certainly not an intermediate trail (although not a hard Grade 4), so the sign may need to be changed to reflect that fact. We'll look into that next time we can.

Trail Towai Traverse
Disagree with below comment. Yes there is a couple of root obstacles along the track but they are definitely able to be navigated with practice. I have only been riding for 5 months and can do.this track without hopping off bike.

Trail Towai Traverse
The Wainui map board rates this as Intermediate, but very few riders could do the entire track without walking or stopping for at least some of it so it is definitely Advanced. This is because it is very tight with a number of very tricky root obstacles. Trials skills would not hurt!
