This is just short of being a 50 mile loop from Galbraith Gap parking area within Rothrock State Forest. It follows the fire roads, going over to Whipple Dam, then Alan Seeger Natural Area before visiting Greenwood Furnace State Park and then coming back via Alan Seeger again and past Bear Meadows too

Start up Bear Meadows Rd making the right onto Laurel Run Rd and climbing over this then being rewarded with the 8 mile downhill run into Whipple Dam. Continue past the dam and bear left onto Greenlee Rd, don't worry you aren't going to climb the entire Greenlee Rd. At about the 14 mile mark keep right on Beidleheimer Rd and yes keep climbing before you descend to Bear Meadows Rd. At the Bear Meadows Rd intersection turn right to keep heading down to Alan Seeger Rd. At the intersection turn left and follow the now paved road past across the bridge past the pavilion in the natural area, keeping left on the paved road to Coopers Gap Rd.

Make the right onto Coopers Gap Rd and continue across the bridge and up past the shale pit before the climbing begins in earnest. Coopers Gap Rd will have a few rollers once you reach the top of the initial climb until you reach the intersection with Kettle Rd around 12 miles in. Just what you wanted another climb as you go up Kettle Rd, take a break at the vista near the top, as once you crest the top it is downhill all the way to Greenwood Furnace State Park.

At the bottom of Kettle Rd make a left onto Rag Hollow Rd and follow this all the way to Rt 305. Make right and head to the main park area. Between Memorial day and Labour Day you can reward yourself with a soda and fries. Back to Rt 305 and go left for a short distance before left again on to Black Lick Rd that goes through the park to the museum, but you keep going. Very soon this will turn back to dirt.

At the intersection make a right onto Alan Seeger Rd and follow this all the way back to Bear Meadows Rd. Yes now you get to climb what you had descended earlier in the day. Remember when you reach the first switchback at the intersection with Detweiler Run Rd. it is only 0.7 miles up to the next at the Wampler Rd intersection and another 0.7 miles to the summit. Once at the summit it is basically downhill all the way back to the parking lot

Sometimes it's about what not to do. This is the 2016 submission to the Shoot The Trails film contest from Transition bikes that took first place.
