Garfagnana Epic

La partenza è prevista dall'Hotel Ristorante “La Lanterna” a Castelnuovo di Garfagnana e dopo un breve tratto di strada provinciale, entrati nel paese di Pieve Fosciana, abbandoneremo la strada asfaltata. Percorrendo la via Matildica, raggiungeremo la Località I Frati, una piccola collina a ridosso di Pieve Fosciana, solcata da alcuni brevi ma divertenti Trail. Dopo averne percorso uno, riprenderemo la strada in direzione Sillico, un paese apprezzabile per l’impareggiabile vista sulla valle e molto noto in quanto qui dimorava il “Moro”, spietato Brigante che tanto filo da torcere dette a Ludovico Ariosto, ai tempi in cui quest’ultimo era governatore della Garfagnana. La salita proseguirà inizialmente su strade secondarie, poi su trattorabili fino a raggiungere i circa 1500 metri di altezza del rifugio Lame di Capraia, dove si svolgerà il ristoro di giornata. Proseguiremo fino ai crinali del Monte Spicchio e del Monte Albano, alternativamente, qualora le condizioni climatiche non lo consentano ed in presenza di neve in quota, procederemo lungo la strada sterrata che ci condurrà al “giro del diavolo”, luogo mistico in cui, secondo la tradizione religiosa, i fedeli di San Pellegrino giungevano trasportando una pietra da depositare in segno di devozione. Raggiunto San Pellegrino, paese più elevato dell’intero Appennino, passando dal Santuario dei Santi Pellegrino e Bianco, le cui reliquie qui riposano, ci affacceremo alla meravigliosa terrazza con vista sull’intera Garfagnana e con sfondo la catena delle Alpi Apuane. Cominceremo le discese ed il primo tratto, seguendo la via Matildica, ci condurrà prima alla Località Boccaia e dopo un breve tratto di strada asfaltata al Paese di Chiozza. Le discese proseguiranno con tratti impegnativi e tecnici ma sempre divertenti, percorrendo i Trail denominati Sopranella e Martinella. Un ultimo breve tratto lungo la Via Matildica ci permetterà di tornare a Pieve Fosciana e raggiungere il Ristorante la Lanterna per concludere
