Always carry spares!

Staring off first with a summit on The Cobbler and Beinn Narnain. This can be taken out and saved for last if need be. You will get plenty of riding!

An easy fireroad climb, offering great views down the length of Loch Long, followed by a fast singletrack descent through Glen Loin. Glen Loin is popular with walkers so this route is not ideal for the middle of the day on a sunny weekend.

The route:

From the carpark, cross the road onto the way-marked walkers' path heading up the hilland follow this until you reach the fire road.

Turn right along the fire road, then take the left fork at the junction a short distance along the road. Continue along this fire road as it climbs gently upwards for a few miles.

After this fireroad crosses Allt Coiregrogain, turn right at the T-junction and then right again at the next T-junction underneath the dam.

About 500m after taking this turning, bear right once more onto the walker's route leading over a bridge and onto a singletrack path into the woods. At first the gradient is negligible, but after a short uphill the descent begins. The Glen Loin path is well used by walkers and some sections are beginning to get quite eroded, so take care on both counts!

Towards the end of the Glen Loin path, once the gradient has all but levelled out, there is a turning off to the right which will lead you back to the road where crossing and turning right will lead back to the carpark.

Alternatively, if you arrived by rail, continue straight on along the singletrack at this point and the path will wind up at Arrochar & Tarbet station.
