Another Goat Mountain "epic" option. Incredible ridgeline views, mountain tops, old growth forests, waterfalls, alpine lakes, and 2 massive descents on great loamy singletrack. One of the best rides anywhere.

Elev displayed by trailforks is grossly incorrect - it's approximately 7800 of climbing on this route.

I rode this loop counter clockwise starting at the Goat Creek trail head on 8/2/2020. It's a nice ride up Goat Creek to the intersection with Goat Mountain Trail, steep but manageable. The decent down Vanson Ridge is suburb, loamy, flowy, and tons of fun! Green River trail is a nice break, relatively flat, fast, and really beautiful. I cut off on FS Rd 2612 to save some time until I got to Goat Mountain Trail. The first couple miles of Goat Mountain trail are a real bitch, super steep. If I were just riding that trail I could have ridden more of it, but riding the loop i opted for a lot of pushing to save some energy. After you reach the top of the climb the traverse of the ridge is great, some flats, some ups and downs, but amazing views and great singletrack. Tumwater Peak is nice, definitely not used too very much compared to the others, it climbs up through the trees at a manageable incline and finishes with a great decent to meet up with Goat Creek Trail and back to the car.

Anyone else have a suggestion or recommendation on what direction to ride this route?

I think the descents are better going CCW.
