En su periplo a través de la Montaña Palentina, el GR 1 discurre íntegramente por el interior de un espacio protegido, donde se hace especialmente necesario observar las normas de conducta, establecidas para conseguir un uso armónico y sostenible del Parque. Del mismo modo, se deben respetar escrupulosamente las restricciones temporales al uso público que los gestores del espacio protegido establecen, sobre todo, para garantizar la tranquilidad en determinadas áreas trascendentales para la cría y alimentación del oso pardo.

Igualmente importantes resultan una serie de cuestiones relativas a las características del sendero y del territorio por el que discurre. Dado que atraviesa una zona de montaña, donde la meteorología puede cambiar con rapidez y de forma inesperada, se deben planificar con cuidado los tramos que se vayan a realizar, consultando las previsiones meteorológicas con antelación pero tomando siempre la precaución de incluir en nuestra mochila ropa de abrigo, crema solar y una provisión adecuada de comida y agua (no está de más incluir alimentos energéticos que nos permitan recuperar fuerzas con rapidez en un momento dado). Por supuesto, unas botas de trekking y ropa de campo cómoda y flexible son del todo imprescindibles.

GR 1 Sendero Histórico.- Tramo Palencia is a 53 mile moderately popular red route located near Palencia (Provincia). This mountain bike primary route can be used both directions and has a hard overall physical rating. This route includes 23 trails. This route climbs 7,840 ft with a max elevation of 5,306 ft then descends -6,040 ft.
