The fifth stage of Vaucluse Great Crossing made for mtb by the Vaucluse Tourism Office
A short but intense climb rises in front of you to go up on the impressive Falaise de la Madeleine above the village of Lioux. The path overlooking it, player and panoramic, while limestone, is a true beautiful mountain bike. After Lioux, a long climb to the place called Bezaure then rush into the Combe de Vaumale, then go up a difficult path in laces and join the village of Murs.
From Murs, you quickly go to the beautiful Combe de Véroncle, then a technical trail. You arrive at the famous village of Gordes and all its architecture of dry stones. After Gordes, the route takes you to the Sénancole valley, in the heart of an astonishing mineral atmosphere. Then a long ascent lined with boxwood by the valley of the Great Combe leads you to the Rock of Three Luisants (alt 661 m). It follows a long descent alternating tracks and trails in a rough landscape of limestone and stones, to Saumane-de-Vaucluse and its castle. A last effort takes you over Fontaine de Vaucluse, for a final descent at a brisk pace, with in focus the meanders of the Sorgue and its source.
