High Point

This is one of the best loops in the Santa Ana's. Great climb up to the top of Santiago Peak followed by descents of Upper and Lower Holy Jim Canyon trails.

This loop is redic. I fried in the blazing sun for 5.5 hours on the climb. The sun was actually so strong that my helmet lost its color. Descent was pretty cool but there was a shit load of brush scratching the bejesus out of my arms and face and legs. If you want to suffer on the climb for kind of an okay descent and mostly dirt road riding, then this is for you.

The central rut is still there and still unavoidable. A skilled rider can still handle most of it though.

VERY DRY. Sections contain deep sand/silt beds from non-use due to previous fire damage. Aside from a few deep sandy section the trail is in good shape. Watch for fire damage and please stay on the designated trail.
