This route incorporates one of the newest additions to the Hawes trail system: Gidro Pass This is a CCW loop, but can be done in the other direction.

The route starts/finishes at the Park-n-Ride lot under the Red Mountain Fwy. A few miles of easy trail get things warmed up, then the slow climbing begins. The turnoff onto Cactus Garden trail can be difficult to find without a GPS track. Prepare to have your legs & lungs tested!! The views are spectacular up top.

There's a second summit and getting to it requires some hike-a-bike on a crappy section of trail, but once attained, the ensuing downhill is fun. The route runs through the defunct NRA jumplines, then onto WIld Horse trail. It connects back into the main Hawes system via Twisted Sister. Make the short climb up Mine trail (Upper Saguaro) for the chunky descent. If doing the loop the other direction, you may want to skip the Mine trail in favor off reaching Twisted Sister via lower Saguaro trail. The route ends on some classic Hawes swoopiness. Enjoy!
