Fernie's iconic Heiko's Mountain Lake Trail is most commonly tackled on foot as an single day or overnight wilderness hike.

The trail can be ridden on starting at either Island Lake Lodge, or the trail head off Hartley Lake Road. It is highly recommended to take a shuttle to or from Hartley Lake Road.

Summiting the Three Sisters is optional and would be described as Extremely Difficult due to its off-cambered loose rocky surface. There are sections of wooden steps that will require carrying the bike.

Really good going at the moment (for a scree field anyway). A pretty decent track goes all of the way with only a few dicey moments. Wear boots to scree ski down!
