South Hills trails will remain open to the public, so encountering other trail users is always a possibility.

The 9th annual Helenduro is the biggest route in the South Hills yet! Make sure your legs are warmed up and ready for a 19-mile tour of Helena's backyard.

Stage 1: Do you know the fastest way around a switchback? Eddye McClure East will give you a 12-pack of chances to figure it out. After Stage 1 you'll climb Eddye McClure West, the Mount Ascension Loop Trail and Entertainment Trail onto the summit of Mount Ascension.

Stage 2: This is a Helena classic: Entertainment Trail all the way down to Davis Gulch. Watch for some tight trees and some high-speed off-camber turns. From the road, cross over to Rodney Meadow Trail, and climb Rent Money to the crest of the ridge.

Stage 3: Descend Pinchot and TR trails down to Orofino Gulch. Watch out for some flat turns in lower Pinchot, a sharp turn at the junction, and a tight chicane on TR. Be sure to enjoy the wide open banked turns. From Orofino Gulch, cross the bridge on Evans Trail and climb over to the Wakina Sky Road. Continue up the road onto the singletrack to Wakina Sky Meadow.

Stage 4: Descend Wakina Sky Trail. This one is fast, tight, and flowy. Watch out for the first turn; it comes up pretty quickly. At the bottom, cross the bridge onto Grizzly Gulch Road, and head downhill for a couple hundred yards to Mini Ridge.
(The Junior course ends at this point.)
Climb Mini Ridge to the Mount Helena Ridge Trail, and enjoy the transfer along the Ridge. Continue on West End and 1906 trails to the top of Mount Helena. Some pushing might be required by this point.

Stage 5: Descend Hogsback, Prospect Shafts, Hanging Draw, Dump Out, and McKelvey trails. This stage is steep, loose, and rocky. Be prepared for some moderate exposure between Hanging Draw and Dump Out.
** Juniors are not timed on Stage 5
