High Point

For riders wanting to start from driftwood; this is a nice out and back with some of the best views this trail has to offer in my opinion. Terrain is easy other the than rocky start from driftwood. Climbing is mostly ups and downs. Require good fitness but I would bring a fit road biker for his first experience in the trails.

Packed by 3 riders from driftwood to avi closure and back(10km). Excellent snow coverage with a few sugar snow sections where you get bogged down. 2x10 with track over existing snowshoe pack for first 8km. Last 2km 2x4 width track over 1 existing fat tire track. Good fun other than last 2km. Would be good to have more traffic (snowshoe and bike) to pack and widen the track. No studs needed but fatties a must. Tons of snow and still snowing as we left late aft yesterday.

Rode Buller to Chester (almost) as an out and back. Skipped the last descent into the Chester carpark. Mostly dry to tacky conditions. A few wet spots south of Rummel and a few isolated snow patches in the same stretch that will be gone within days. Moved one small downed tree off the trail otherwise the trail was clear of obstructions.
