Parking is a pain near the trailhead. Note the no parking signs in the shopping center. The streets near Red Agave appear to be okay to park on, but double check they haven't posted anything new.
This is a fun loop to do in Sedona to get the HiLine under your belt. Set your sites on parking near the Red Agave Resort:
120 Canyon Circle Dr
Sedona, AZ 86351
There are residential streets right by this resort that do not have "No Trail Use Parking Will Tow" signs, so I am assuming you can park there. I have parked there multiple times, and have not had a problem. You hit the trail right next to the Red Agave A-Frame cabins. Then take it up to the Made-In-The-Shade trail. You will be hit with some technical terrain right away. This is a super technical and fun trail to take up to the Slim Shady intersection before joining the HiLine trail.
Keep in mind the HiLine trail is one direction. Once on the HiLine trail you will enjoy a moderate climb to the top. Nothing too technical, but there are a couple of spots you need to keep any eye out for.
Once on top look to your right for the trail down. The first time on this trail I walked the initial part as it looked sketchy. It really isn't that bad. I have ridden it every time since then. Once you start the downhill from the top it is essentially downhill the rest of the way on the HiLine so enjoy yourself! Several technical steep sections on this portion of the ride, so be careful if riding alone. A lot of people will walk two or three sections of the trail. There is really only one spot I need to walk on a consistent basis.
Once you finish the HiLine, and the stoke is high, do NOT be tempted to ride around Baldwin Mountain. It is super lame. Take the shorter route and enjoy some more downhill fun! Once you get out of Baldwin and start making your way bank via Templeton expect lots of hikers. It is just a slow and steady pedal back to the car for the most part. Slim Shady gets a little more fun as you get towards the end. I avoid Made-In-The-Shade on the way back as you already have ridden that, so I tend to avoid riding the same trail twice if possible.
When you are done you can zip into the shopping center by Bike And Bean for a coffee, there is a pizza place next door, and a few other spots.
All in all it is a fun two hour ride - plus or minus 30 min - depending on stops, riding level, etc.
