Hiline trail is a "must do" bucket list ride for the experienced rider. Even if you have to walk the Double Black moves, the views and landscape is totally worth the effort. This ride has the ultimate mix of creative singletrack, views, flowy descents, steep n technical descents, drops, slick rock, chuck, technical uphill moves, exposure, etc.

Start this ride by parking at the Yavapai Vista trailhead. After hopping on the trail, we recommend doing the "bonus loop" on Slim Shady first. Slim Shady is such a fun trail, and a great warm up before getting up on Hiline. This bonus loop only takes about 20-30 minutes to get back to Yavapai Vista.

Climb your way up Hiline, you'll be rewarded the entire way up. There is a little bit of exposure with some of the benched in sections of trail, so be cautious. There's also some hard rock moves to keep momentum up and over. Once at the "overlook", you'll have mostly descending all the way to Oak Creek. It starts off with some flow, then slick rock, and the last 1/4 mile has the real Double Black moves - a very steep rocky chute, steep rock garden, steep drop with exposure, and it can all be very loose dirt/rock depending on time of year.

It's a great idea to get off your bike and check out the moves before rolling into anything unsure of. Even if you have to walk a few moves, you can always come back to put the pieces together. Majority of riders take a handful of attempts to clean every move here

Once down to Oak Creek, you'll be along "Buddha Beach" along the water before climbing up the super steep Templeton switchback climbs. This is another section where it's common to walk the bike. At least it's fairly short though. After this climb, it's mostly smooth sailing back to Yavapai Vista.
