Sundance requires a pass to ride trails, so stop by the lodge and get your day pass, or better yet, purchase a lift pass and do some practice runs of the DH sections
The course at Sundance is another high mountain classic, complete with tree shaded trails, big mountain views, and all the singletrack you could hope for in an XC race. The course is a 6.9 mile loop, with just under 1100ft of elevation gain per lap, most of which comes in the first part of the race as you head uphill- first on a paved road from the start, and then up and around the backside of the mountain on Archie’s Loop. This is where the views get really spectacular if you can find the oxygen to pick your head up and appreciate them as you make your way up this primarily singletrack climb. From this highpoint of the race (6,900ft) you have a ripping descent through the forest, full of switchbacks and berms before joining up with a paved road that climbs you back to the finish. An awesome course through gorgeous terrain, what more could you ask for?
