High Point

This is a great summer and fall loop. Close enough to town but not too many people on the trail as parts of the trail are definitely remote and require proper preparation for unforeseen circumstances. Cell service is marginal to non-existent, especially on Dutch and Hermosa Creek.
The trail is typically ridden counter-clockwise, but either way is possible. Jones Creek is a constant uphill to the intersection of Flagstaff-Pinkerton trail. You can enjoy some great views of the Animas Valley and La Plata mountains along the way once on top of the ridge. Dutch Creek is all downhill with some technical sections. Hermosa Creek trail sees by far the most amount of trail users, including horseback riders, hikers and moto. Plan on encountering cows somewhere along the trail..
