Big views, big climbs and an extended 14 km single-track (almost) continuous descent from the high point, all on intermediate single track trails describes the“Killer King” route. The Killer King is 54 km with 50km of singletrack incorporating the newest and older classic trails (24 in total) in this area with over 1800 metres of climbing (the high point is at 1454m up on the King Eddy Plateau above Vernon). It is "blue" for individual trail difficulty but "black" for overall effort required.

Note regarding distance, especially for trail runners. The actual distance is 54km and not 48.6 km as shown on Trailforks. The 54 km was measured by a calibrated, wheel mounted odometer which is the most accurate way to measure a trail and was measured twice to confirm accuracy.

This route should not be taken lightly. It will take 6-8 hours depending on fitness. Be prepared and take as much water and nutrition as you can carry, you will need it. Or you can drop a replenishment on the Plateau or have someone do it for you as there are many good places to do so.

Also be aware that there are sections of the route where there is no cell phone coverage (not many but some).

Dark blue trail, getting bed in nicely with time. Phenomenal trail!! I’m not really into butter smooth blue trails, so the extra tech plus speedy flow made it soooo good!

Amazing shore like experience. I would rate this a black. Most blue rider I know would find this too high of consequence.

Dennis Wick. Rode this Oct 8, 2021 at 9:43 a.m. Plan was to have no touches. Never rode first section. Little Moab was surprising. Took 1 hour to get to Cosens Bay Road. Then the climbing begins. Lots of tricky spots. 3 hour mark was at Tombstone. No touches yet but getting tired. Never rode upper trails before, thought they would be fast and flowy - wrong! Had 2 touchdowns on Tombstone, mental error. Beautiful trails up top but technical. Royal Accent and My Crowning Achievement were awesome trails. about the 5 hour mark started the downhill. When tired, they are exciting. Be Kind trail is all new to me, do not under estimate the downhills. Twista was eye popping. Back at parking lot at 4:12 p.m. Total of 6 1/2 hours. A must do ride.

hi there Dennis. did u follow the whole route? I'm looking at all the trails en route, I have a question about that one climbing trail Pali Gap. do you ride down it as well? trailforks says its a climbing trail, according to the route, you have to ride down this part of the Pali Gap trail? Just wanted to make sure that you're actually allowed to ride down that climbing trail coz I don't want to be riding down a climbing trail. I'm planning on doing this killer king route this summer. just wanted to ask you since you've done it. thanks

don't know if anyone else gave you an answer on pali ?! Totally OK to ride down, it is listed as uphill primarily as it is the main climb route but it is not an uphill only. Big ride and awesome, just make sure your prepared for 6-8hrs with food, hydration and some emerg repair items incase. Enjoy Smile

Has promise, as with previous comments, still needs some work to smooth out the ragged sections and increase the flow. Definitely a couple of dark dark blue to light black sections.

Fantastic climbing trail-enough tech to keep you on your toes but totally reasonable grade. Same goes for upper Stone Free which is less tech but a steady grade.

Beautiful trail high above Vernon, the crown jewel of the plateau. Expert route selection has resulted in a fun, flowy ride with amazing views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. What’s the rush to get back to the sweltering heat of the valley? Ties nicely with Tombstone.

That is one huge tree down across trail .... my suggestion is to leave it there and make a feature off of it ... one for Advanced and one for intermediates ... you dont get a tree down like that very often

There is a tree down at the bottom of the trail where you climb up out of the parking lot to head to Sidewinder. I saw it Wednesday at noon, it isn't too big but needs to be cut out as I couldn't move it.
