Classic trail route around lake Tunevannet in Sarpsborg. This is almost exlusively natural, techincal singletrack, ranging from green to black in difficulty. Most of it is ridable, but there are a few hike-a-bike sections, but all very short. Several tech hurdles to overcome, lots of beautiful spots for enjoying packed lunch or a beer, or even a swim in the lake.
Quick locals will do this loop in sub 2 hours non-stop. If your'e out to enjoy, you'll more likely spend 3 hours +, depending on skills and fitness. A good choice for an "all-day" AM ride, without so many metres of climbing - at least continuous...
Recommended gear: good full-sus bikes, solid tires and knee pads. A GPS-map enabled computer is almost required unless riding with a local, as there is a huge trail network all around the lake.
BEWARE: when crossing the asphalt road for the second time, you ride through a shooting range. Make sure you are seen - wear something brightly colored, or stop and ask. If they are shooting skeet in the direction of the trail, make a detour by following the hiking trail marked with blue paint to the right of the range. This will take you to the top of the hill after some hike-a-bike, and you can either follow trail back down to the water, or ride along the top on fast, flowy trails on rock face and drit.
All trails are open to the public, so yield to hikers and runners,be friendly and wear a smile!
