High Point

A locals' favorite loop in the Elkhorns, this ride is a loop beginning and ending at the parking area on the Strawberry Butte Lookout road. It rides well in either direction, but clockwise is recommended. Expect the loop to take about 1.5 to 2 hours for a moderately fit rider.

Has it all. Great descents, leg burning climbs, great vistas and a few small log or rock drops if desired coming off Maupin Mill Creek divide and all single track except when crossing Forest Road. Beware the climb from Maupin into Mill Creek drainage. I know one local Mountain biking legend that ended up walking his single speed up that one.

A homeowner has placed a sign at the bottom of Pinecrest Rd that says No Access to Trails, Biles not Allowed. THIS IS NOT TRUE. We legally rode past the sign on the Jefferson County Road. Please contact Jefferson County Commissioners to suggest that they stop plowing this road until the sign is removed.

There is a small, very angry troll that lives at the bottom of this trail. He really doesn’t like bikes or anything to do with them... especially on his property. If you bike this, park on the road or he will likely throw a temper tantrum and try to cast a spell on you or something.
