Hike or run the complete length of the McIntosh trail system, from Spryfield to Herring Cove or the reverse.
This route takes the most direct trails through the system, avoiding loops. It passes through Acadian forest, granite barrens, and areas burned in the 2009 fire. Watercourses you will encounter are Governors Brook, Flat Lake, Duck Pond, the river, and West Pine pond.
Both ends of the route can be accessed by HRM Public transit.
There are no services enroute (but good cell coverage, usually), and no easy options to shortcut out of the route, so be prepared.
