NAEC Day 1

Pro/ Expert- All Stages

2,825' of climbing, the rest is lift access.

Sport - All stages except Stage 5

1,900' of climbing, the rest is lift access.

Transfer 1 - Stage 1

Note- The first trail on Stage 1 is Soup Kitchen, IT WILL NOT BE OPEN UNTIL FRIDAY for practice. Our trail crew will be falling trees and working on it Thursday. This is a brand new rough-cut trail.

Roughly 2,000' climb to the start of Stage 1 up through town and Slaughterhouse Road to 5 Corners.
Descend Stage 1, which includes the brand new, roughed in, Soup Kitchen and Mom Jeans. Riders continue down Wildcat and have the option of taking Snaggletooth, a rocky steep piece of trail that is potentially faster. Stage 1 ends just above Alhambra Road. Expect Soup Kitchen and Mom Jeans to "Mature" throughout the weekend, they are both extremely fresh and were built for this race.

Transfer 2 - Stage 2

Riders head back to the Silver Mountain Village on the Trail of the CDA's, and head up to the Mountain House by gondola. Stage 2 is Hot Beans to Franknbeans, a full-on DH track with lots of roots and rough stuff. Riders have the option of taking the faster Baby Swiss trail, this line features a large gap drop and is rated double black diamond. LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP!

Transfer 3 - Stage 3

Everyone will load Chair 3 and head up to the top of Jackass. Stage 3 starts on Jackass and uses the rocky and fast upper section before we turn on to El Burro Loco. El Burro Loco is a mix of tight berms and small rock features. Near the bottom of El Burro Loco riders will take a left, navigate an awkward corner and run a piece of Lower Payday. Although it's rated as a beginner trail, this is a fast and fun ripper.

Transfer 4 - Stage 4

Continue down Ridge Road to Corkscrew. Riders will enjoy this fast berm to berm roller coaster that dumps into Highlife. Highlife is challenging at speed and has just enough tech to keep people on their toes.

Transfer 5 - Stage 5

Pro and Expert ONLY- Riders will transfer down Low Life, take a 180 turn onto the 5 Corners Road, and then pedal a slight grade until the road drops down near the bottom of Chair 4. Merge uphill onto Assay Road and follow it as it switchbacks out of the Chair 4 Basin. You'll pass by some maintenance buildings, under the midway station for Chair 4, and then roll down to the bottom of Chair 3, where you will upload. Stage 5 is Snake Pit, a steep, fast, and intermittently rocky trail that has a lot of character. The NWCup Pro and Experts just broke this in for you last week, ENJOY!

Transfer 6 - Stage 6

Sport riders will transfer from Stage 4 directly to Stage 6 down Low Life.

Pro and Experts- Load Chair 3, the transfer will continue down Hammer, Lower Hammer, and Mutton Conductor. This will give riders one last chance to practice part of Stage 10. Stage 6 will start at 5 Corners on Spooky Woods. Although it's a little flat at first, Spooky Woods delivers some great roots and classic DH action, riders will bomb down Wide Open Road, and then rip a few jumps and berms on Wide Open before taking a hard left onto Tinkerbell. Tinkerbell is a brief flowy but natural single track that feeds you into Secret Squirrel, a twisty and often off camber trail with a mix of bermed and unbermed corners. Take a right onto the bridge at the top of War Gerbil and finish your race with this new rough off camber. Expect War Gerbil to "Mature" throughout the weekend, it is new this season.

Everyone will head back to the base area on the Trail of the CDA's.

 Transfer 1 - Stage 1

Roughly 2,000' climb to the start of Stage 1 up through town and Slaughterhouse Road to 5 Corners.
Descend Stage 1, which includes the very rough cut Soup Kitchen and Mom Jeans. Riders continue down WIldcat and have the option of taking Snaggletooth, a rocky steep piece of trail that is potentially faster. Stage 1 ends just above Alhambra Road.

Transfer 2 - Stage 2

Riders head back to the base of the gondola on the Trail of the CDA's, and head up to the Mountain House. Stage 2 is Hot Beans to Frankenbeans, a full on DH track with lots of roots and rough stuff. Riders have the option of taking the slightly faster Baby Swiss line, this line features a large gap drop that cannot be rolled.

Near the bottom of El Burro Loco riders will take a left, navigate an ackward corner and run a piece of Lower Payday. Although it's rated as a beginer trail, this is a fun little ripper.

Transfer 4 - Stage 4

Continue down Ridge Road to Corkscrew. Riders will enjoy this fast berm to berm roller coaster that dumps into Highlife. Highlife is best when pumped, and has just enough tech to keep people on their toes.

Transfer 5 - Stage 5

Cat 1 and Pro ONLY- Riders will transfer down Low Life, take a 180 turn onto the 5 Corners Road, and then pedal a slight grade until the road drops down near the bottom of Chair 4. Merge uphill onto Assay Road and follow it as it switchbacks out of the Chair 4 Basin. You'll pass by some maintenance buildings, under the midway station for Chair 4, and then roll down to the bottom of Chair 3, where you will upload. Cat 1 and Pro Riders will ride Snake Pit, a steep, fast, and intermittently rocky trail that has a lot of character.

Transfer 6 - Stage 6
Load Chair 3, the transfer will continue down Hammer, Lower Hammer, and Mutton Conductor, which will give riders one last chance to check out this part of Sunday's final stage. Tinkerbell is a brief flowy but natural singletrack that feeds you into Secret Squirrel, a twisty and often off camber trail with a mix of bermed and unbermed corners. Take a right onto the bridge at the top of War Gerbi and finish your race with this new rough cut off camber.

Everyone will head back to the base area on the Trail of the CDA's.
