High Point

A hard ride, but relatively mellow for an alpine epic in WA. Great views along the ridge, and finishes with downhill. Normally ridden West to East, but could theoretically be ridden East to West as well. Double Black rating applies only to Merritt Lake, where it is caused by technical climbing. A strong intermediate could do this ride if they are willing to push a bit (everyone is likely to push somewhere on this route)

It's really sandy and dry with good sized moto ruts in the corners, basically moon dust most of the way down. I would wait for a good rain this fall to go up there, especially if you're going to climb up Nason. Also note they have a road closed sign on 6910 if you're looking to shuttle up to Round Mountain Trail. It looks like the washout is fixed with one of those steel plates but there is still a road closed sign. I rode up 6910 which doesn't take too long and then up Round Mountain.
