This is a fun loop that accommodates advanced beginners and above. Ride time is 2-3 hrs depending on stops.

Plan the ride so that you get to the first vista (Pigpile vista) on Pigpile Trail when the moon is strong providing you with a great look over Big Valley

You start flying down Barrville Rd, then climb Flat Rd. At the other end of Flat Rd, take Sass-XX to the grass clearing and then bear left back up in the direction to Flat Rd, turning right on Flat Rd to Indian Trail (upper), at left turn around the gate. This is a gentle climb up to Shitaka Trail, bearing left on Shitaka Trail and keeping left on Shitatka Trail up to Kettle Rd.

Do the work to climb up and over Kettle Rd dropping down to Sassafras (upper). Go left on Sassafras for ~ 1mile then make the right onto Pigpile Trail for the trip back to the start
