In 2010 the northern section of the route for the Butte 100 Racecourse looked very different to what it does today before organizers decided to make the route "more compact".
The southern section of the route has remained very similar. However, since 2010 there have been trail re-routes/additions on Skeeboggan, Bear Gulch, and 8-miles of Hell. Placer/Eagles Nest Trail did not exist back then. The route also went up the steeper Grading Camp Trail, where as now it goes up the Chimney Trail (Upper Grading Camp).
