Percorso fluviale
Route along the riverbank

Description:
In the low regions of Val di Magra, the riverside environment with its large ponds created by the slow and winding path of the Magra river, includes wetlands that are unique in Liguria and very important for the resting and nesting of many migratory and sedentary birds such as kingfishers, grey herons, little egrets and cormorants. Among the aquatic fauna, it has to be mentioned the sea lamprey, recently rediscovered here, the only place in Italy where it breeds. This is a route suitable for all, including families with children that, thanks to this simple path, can discover the varied ecosystem of the riverside, full of waterbirds, shorebirds and birds of prey, ponds and dead vegetation, an ideal habitat for the nesting of numerous bird species.
