      Arizona Trail: Picketpost to Kelvin

One of my favorite rides of all time, so far. After Friday and Saturdays 21st and 22nd heavy rain, there was plenty of water in small side drainages and the big water catchment at the top of the hill. There was significantly less water once you reach the river. The river was flowing but we opted not to use that water. It was very murky and probably plug most filters. The trail itself is in very good condition. There was a saguaro across the trail South of the catchment tank and North of the power lines. It was small and easy to step over. Looks like maintenance has been done to parts of the trail recently. There is road access just North of the river intersection and a small flat camping spot above the river. We camped overnight there, it was plenty roomy for 3 of us and all our gear. It would be a great place for a water drop. There is a short steep old jeep road about 3 miles north of the river. It has very sharp broken rock top to bottom, I cut my rear tire even riding carefully. I would choose to walk it next time. Otherwise A-1 experience. Oh, and the poppies and wildflowers are blooming:)
