I wanted to make a PQ loop that avoided Eucalyptus for my CX/Gravel Bike. Ridden on 19Jul20, although the route shows the beach as the western leg of the route I had to stick to Camino del Mar because the tide was in precluding riding on the beach. Ride was great on a Gravel bike, my 38c Panaracers were suitable for the conditions and with all the steep gravel climbs at the beginning of the ride I was more than fresh enough to get through the techy stuff on Two Bridges and the sand on the North Side Trail - Far West. If I'd had more time I might have actually looped this one twice.

Also, if you want to pick up the tempo you can avoid Santa Monica Ridge Fire Road and stay on Tunnels Road then take a few surface streets to the SR56 bikeway, then take that west to Carmel Valley Road so you rejoin the route under the overpass on the Del Mar Flow Trail.
